Special Fire Fighting Procedures:  Cool fire exposed containers with water.  Use air supplied rescue

        equipment for enclosed areas.  Vapors are heavier than air.

Flash Point/Method Used:  142° F.

Flammable Limits:  Upper: 6%  Lower: 1%.

Extinguishing Media:  Foam, CO2, Dry Chemical, Water Fog (dot direct/prod. floats).

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:  May form toxic materials, CO, CO2, etc.

 

Section V - Health Hazard Data

Effects Of Overexposure:

Eyes:  Slightly irritating to eyes.

Skin:  May irritate upon prolonged or repeated contact.

Inhalation:  Vapor or mist may cause headache, nausea and irritation of the eyes, nose throat and lungs.

Ingestion:  May cause irritation to the mouth, esophagus and  stomach.

Carcinogen:  Not a carcinogen.

 

Emergency First Aid Procedures:

Eyes:  Flush eyes with large amounts of water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if redness persists.

Skin:  Wash affected area with soap and water. Seek medical attention.

Inhalation:  Move subject to fresh air. Give oxygen if breathing is difficult. Seek medical help.

Ingestion:  Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical help. Vomiting can cause aspiration into lungs

 and could be fatal.  Give 1 glass of water.

Section VII - Spill Or Leak Procedures

Steps To Be Taken In Case Material Is Released Or Spilled: 

        Small Spills:  Absorb spill on inert material (sand, earth, etc.) and dispose of as waste materials.

        Eliminate sources of ignition.

        Large Spills:  Eliminate all ignition sources. Keep spectators away.  Floors may be slippery.  Use care to

        avoid falling.  Dike and maintain spill with inert material.  Transfer liquid to containers for recovery or

        disposal and solid diking material to separate containers for disposal.  Keep spills and cleaning runoffs out

        of municipal sewers and open bodies of water.      Eliminate sources of ignition.

Waste Disposal Method:  Coagulate the emulsion by stepwise addition of ferric chloride and lime.  Remove

        the clear supernatant liquid and flush to a chemical sewer Landfill or incinerate the solids and the

        contaminated diking material according to local, state and federal regulations.

 

Section VIII - Special Protection Information

Respiratory Protection (Type):  Not required if good ventilation is maintained.  Otherwise, wear

        self-contained breathing apparatus (pressure demand, MSHA/NIOSH approved or the equivalent).

Ventilation:  Mechanical local exhaust ventilation at point of contaminant release.

Protective Gloves:  Impervious.

Eye Protection:  Chemical splash goggles (ANS A-87-1 or approved equivalent).

 

Section IX - Special Precautions

Precautions To Be Taken In Handling And Storing:  Keep out of reach of children.  For use by trained

        personnel only.  Keep container closed during storage.  For institutional and industrial use only. 

        Keep from freezing.  Product may coagulate.  Do not store above 140° F or below 34°  F.
